An afternoon in Gowa, Makassar (Part 1)

Yess, finally weekend is coming. So for this Saturday trip, I plan to go to Gowa District.  Actually is not far from Makassar (seriously is not far away from my place, less than 1 hour and I just use Waze application and of curse my office’s motorbike).

Before leaving, I was browsing first in advance to find out what attractions are there.

So here we gooooo..

1. BENTENG SOMBA OPU

Before arriving at the destination, I thought this castle more or less the same as Fort Rotterdam. Clean, well-groomed and maintained. But when I arrived at the location, it was not as expected as I thought. But, for sure it's worth to come here. Why?

Because the castle is different from the Fort Rotterdam. There is still a typical building of Sulawesi, which is clearly visible here. There are also several examples of the traditional house of South Sulawesi (Looks like Taman Mini Indonesia Indah) and museum too. (You can find many pokemons, for those who still play Pokemon Go until now, hehe)

The photo above is a photo of Baruga Somba Opu. Baruga itself according to the people of Sulawesi usually becomes a gathering place or discussion.

The picture above is a traditional house from the Luwu area. The concept of houses on stilts and building components are mostly made of wood. It's impressed simple but beautiful.

Somba Opu is established by Daeng Matanre Karaeng Tumpa'risi 'Kallona which is the 9th King of Gowa Gowa in the 16th century. Based on history, the castle was once the main strongholds of the Kingdom of Gowa. And in trading era, Somba Opu has important roles as the center of the spice trading and the port. But unfortunately, when Somba Opu is controlled by the VOC, this castle destroyed and submerged by a tidal wave.

2. Gowa Discovery Park

Masih berada di satu kawasan dengan Benteng Somba Opu, Gowa Discovery Park ini ternyata terdiri dari mini birds zoo and waterboom (because I didn't bring my swimsuit, so I just entering the taman burung).

*The entrance fee for Gowa Discovery Park is Rp. 35.000

English Version : Gowa Discovery Park

Still in one area with Somba Opu Fortress, Gowa Discovery Park was apparently made up of mini birds zoo and waterboom (because I didn't bring my swimsuit, so I just entering the mini birds zoo).

When we enter into this GDP bird park, it's very comfortable and has cool atmosphere. Full of shady trees and some animals. Apparently not only birds, there are some other animals in this Gowa Discovery Park.
Not far from the entrance, we can find a very beautiful lake, of course there are also birds there.

In addition to birds,  there are also various types of reptiles. One of them is Soa-soa. It is a lizard whose pokemon name is: Charmender.
Lot of cute animals in here. The place is also interesting to visit for those who want to tour in shady and cool atmosphere (yes Makassar and its surroundings areas are hot, but for you who are get used to live in Surabaya or Cirebon guaranteed you will be strong enough in Makassar and surroundings areas...)
